We have 14 ingredients that make the soap for our goat milks soaps + plenty of extras we add to make them pretty, and smell delicious. Coconut Oil

What is it?

a hydrating ingredient that is rich in lipids that moisture and replenish skin. it contains a blend of highly concentrated lauric acid, which protects, hydrates, and nourishes. 

it is a plant kernal that is rich in fatty acids, non-fragrant, and acts as an emollient

What does it do? 

primarily used for its hydrating properties, because it limits moisture loss, which can help brighten your complexion. 

it is considered a natural anti-aging ingreidient, because it can help to plump skin, preventing saggind and wrinkles. it also can promote cellular turnover, diminishing the appearance of fine lines.

coconut oil contains lauric acid, which is a naturally occurring anti-bacterial, and anti-inflammatory.  

coconut oil also has exfoliating properties, which help to remove dead skin cells, and smooth texture. due to its anti-inflammatory properties, it can also boost skins natural protective barrier to prevent free radical damage.

Glycerin

What is it?

EDTA is also known as ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid. which helps to improve the foam produced by soaps and personal care products. it is suitable for all skin types and is commonly used in beauty products. 

What does it do? 

EDTA is used in soaps and beauty products as a preservative to prevent the development of bacteria. it also helps to extend shelf life and prevent contamination, which can lead to skin irritation. EDTA is added to soaps to prevent them from becoming mouldy or producing scum.

it has 2 primary functions-

Propylene Glycol

What is it?

a humectant- meaning it attracts moisture to skin. it helps to protect and hydrate your skin and is used in nearly every beauty product. 

 

propylene glycol works in soaps to help the water based ingredients absorb into your skin! 

What does it do? 

like EDTA, propylene glycol acts as a preservative to extend the lifespan of your soap. it can also boost the effectiveness of other ingredients in your soap, to help you achieve maximum results. it also helps ingredients penetrate deeply into your skin.

Goats Milks

What is it?

a popular moisturizing ingredient that hydrates and nourishes, and can help to prevent premature aging. goat's milk has been used for generations to treat sensitive skin and is ideal for those who want a gentle soap to cleanse and moisturize. 

What does it do? 

goats milk is a gentle but effective ingredient. it has the same pH as your skin, meaning it helps to avoid irritation, and inflammation. one of the main components of goats milk is lactic acid, which helps to hydrate and gently exfoliate skin to repair damage.

Myristic Acid 

What is it?

myristic acid is an emulsifier and surfactant that adds stability to soap to prevent the different ingredients from separating. it's a fatty acid that is also known as tetradecameric acid, that is naturally occurring in coconut oil.

What does it do? 

it helps prevent the water based and oil components from separating in soap. it helps to make it more stable. it is also a surfactant, meaning it cleanses gently and is easy to rinse off!

prevents soap from breaking apart while in use. it works to thicken the ingredients in soap, while providing a natural base.  

Lauric Acid 

What is it?

a fatty acid naturally found in coconut oil. it is a saturated fat and medium-chain fatty acid, containing twelve atom carbons. 

it is commonly found in beauty products and has a pleasant natural scent. it has anti microbial properties that help to cleanse and smooth skins texture, making it a popular ingredient in anti-aging products.

What does it do? 

it is primarily used in soaps for its anti-bacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties. but it is also a preservative that helps to extend the shelf life of our soaps. it works to repair and cleanse the skin. lauric acid is popular for its anti-microbial properties, which can help your skin fight against acne and breakouts!

What does it do? 

shea butter acts as an anti-inflammatory, that soothes and can tackle redness and irritation. it is rich in antioxidants that protect your skin against free radical damage, helps to prevent premature aging, can help smooth skin to create a natural glow.

Sodium Hydroxide

What is it?

an alkaline ingredient that helps soap to maintain its pH level. Also known as Lye. it is a common ingredient for soaps and cleansers- acting as a film for amino acids and oils to protect skin from oxidative stress and free radical damage. 

What does it do? 

in soaps it is used to make soap, soap, by incorporating oils into the formula.

Sodium Methyl Cocyl Taurate

What is it?

derived from the fatty acids in coconuts, act as a foaming agent, popularly used for its moisturizing properties. it is safe for sensitive skin and is commonly found in baby products. it is an eco-friendly, biodegradable ingredient. 

What does it do? 

it acts as a surfactant in soaps and cleanser allowing the oils within the soap and water to blend. it is a natural alternative to sulfates and silicones, which can irritate your skin. it is a popular ingredient in anti-acne products as it helps to prevent inflammation and breakouts.

Sodium Stearate 

What is it?

an emulsion stabilizer and is one of the stearate salts. it is a fine white powder that is popularly found in personal care products, including skin care and soap. 

it is a vegetable based material that typically comes from coconut and palm oils, helping to create a rich lather. 

 

What does it do? 

it acts as a lubricating ingredient that prevents the soap from separating. this ingredient helps to stabilize the soap formula.

Betaine

What is it?

an amino acid that naturally occurs in the body. it is a gentle hydrator that can help keep skin plump, healthy, and youthful.  it is primarily found in skin and haircare products to soothe, hydrate and help prevent premature aging. 

What does it do? 

primary purpose is to hydrate the skin- its molecular structure helps it to deeply moisture skin for all day hydration. it give the skin a smoothe, silk-like feel. Betaine also helps to protect and soothe, making it ideal for sensitive skin.
